Reigniting Memories, Igniting Potential: Big Sisters Soirée presented by Scotiabank 2024

Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland’s Soirée presented by Scotiabank brought together over 400 passionate supporters to The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver for a one-of-a-kind gala event in celebration of girls and gender-diverse youth.

The even began with a reception which featured a Wine Mall, Make-Up Station from International Makeup + Hair Artist / Stylist Red Carpet Ready by Christina, a Photobooth from Dang Good Photo’s and even a Retro Gaming Hub.

An evening celebrating Big Sisters

The main event began with a stunning performance of Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful by Little Sisters Zaya and Nirvana which set the tone for a spectacular evening. The evening was hosted by CBC Vancouver’s Michelle Eliot, award-winning journalist and host of weekday call-in show BC Today. We also welcomed back Fred Lee, Vanhattan’s Man About Town, as our auctioneer for the evening to create an unforgettable and energetic atmosphere.

The Live Auction was a big hit with incredible giveaways featuring everything from a 4-night stay in LA to exclusive Taylor Swift tickets!

Next, we moved to the Little Sister Spotlight where Jacqueline, Aria and Ayva, three incredible Little Sisters, shared the story of their journey in our Study Buddy video feature before Jacqueline bravely shared her story on stage.

The energy in the room was electric as guests rallied around our mission, proving that it takes just one person to change a young life for the better. Leading the charge, Fred Lee expertly hosted our Fund-a-Need auction, which raised a staggering $160,000—enough to support 50 new matches between Bigs and Littles for an entire year!

A night to remember in support of girls and youth

We wrapped things up with a prom-themed after party including a photo booth run by former Little Sister Theresa and live performances from Zaya and Nirvana, alongside band Ten Souljers.

Together, we raised more than $550,000, igniting potential and empowering the next generation across the Lower Mainland.

Of course, Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland Soirée wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our presenting sponsor, Scotiabank, as well as our generous donors, partners, and all other sponsors.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, for believing in the power of mentorship, and for standing with us as we continue to ignite potential and build brighter futures together.
