Our Mentoring Programs

Are you looking to be part of a community that’s supportive, caring, and inclusive? Big Sisters volunteer opportunities are available for the Study Buddy, Big Sisters, and Go Girls programs to harness the power of mentorships to ignite the potential in girls, non-binary, transgender and gender-diverse youth in the Lower Mainland of BC.

Interested in becoming a mentor? Let’s get started!

Step 2: Paperwork

Complete an application form, which will include completing a Criminal Record Check. Also, obtain a copy of your Driving Abstract (if applicable).

Step 4: Orientation

Learn how and why we do what we do, and get all the tools you need to have a successful mentoring experience.

Step 6: Let’s Make a Match

Our Program Coordinators will contact you to set up an initial match meeting and help you get started, always supporting you throughout your volunteering experiences.

Why Mentoring Matters

We believe that every person has unlimited potential and individual strengths. But not everyone has the opportunity to be connected with others to create lasting relationships. The Big Sisters program provided an opportunity for Jen to meet a caring and supportive mentor who has had a lasting impact on her life. Over the years, Jen and Sandy have built a strong bond through shared experiences and open communication. Even after their formal match ended, they continue to stay in touch and support each other.

Ricky and Rachel established such positive, trusting connections with their group after only two weeks, that the participants felt comfortable to open up about the friendship issues they were having. “The best thing about Go Girls was how all the participants sat together, did activities, and were being ourselves.
