Six New Members join Big Sisters’ Board of Directors
Big Sisters is delighted to announce the appointment of our newest Board Directors: Anna Hardy, Daniel Levangie, Laura Smart, Ramya Hosak, Dr. Victoria Gay, and Winnie Mok. With their diverse backgrounds and extensive experience, we are confident that they will bring invaluable expertise and insight to our organization. We look forward to working with them to advance our mission and help more youth and young girls reach their full potential.

Anna Hardy
Anna is currently an Economist with the Department of Finance Canada. She was the former Vice President and Chief of Staff at Fulmer & Company and had worked for close to a decade in financial services at BlueShore Financial and Central 1. Her career has roots in Ottawa, where her experience ranged from advising leaders on parliamentary process and foreign policy at Global Affairs Canada, to corporate initiatives at Canada Revenue Agency.
Daniel Levangie
Daniel Levangie works as the Associate Vice-President, Student Success at Capilano University. He has spent the last two decades working in post-secondary education and his working life has been focused on creating opportunities for young people to succeed in their educational and personal lives.
He lives in the Fraser area of East Van with his wife and three kids. He loves travel and enjoys playing hockey, biking, and skiing. He also spends a lot of his time coaching youth sports and really feels fortunate to be able to foster opportunities for kids to thrive.
Laura Smart
Laura is the current Financial Controller for EnWave and the former Controller for Paladin Security, Canada’s largest full-service security company. Laura was the former Co-Chair of Big Sisters’ Luminary Soiree. Laura has her CA and Bachelor of Science, University of British Columbia.
Ramya Hosak
Ramya is the Director of Philanthropy at the Kidney Foundation, BC & Yukon Branch. She is also the Co-founder and volunteer Executive Director of Young and Type 1, a grassroots support system of over 550 adults 18 – 40+ living with type 1 diabetes and their loved ones in the Lower mainland. Ramya is a graduate from Simon Fraser University with a BSc, Health Science, with a focus on Public and Population Health. She also holds an Associate Certificate with Honors in Fundraising Management from BCIT and holds a CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation.
Dr. Victoria Gay
Dr. Victoria Gay works with social and environmental impact organizations on strategic impact, change and capacity building through Mutatio (Co-Founder) and VGC (Founder). From an early age, Victoria has been passionate about caring for people and nature. Now, with a Ph.D. in environmental science, 17 years of cross-sectoral experience and innate enthusiasm for problem-solving, her skill sets are used by a portfolio of non-profit, government and social impact organizations to help drive crucial change.
Winnie Mok
Winnie Mok is the Director of Information Technology at Science World, joining in May 2020 with over 25 years of IT experience. Prior to her role at Science World, Winnie spent 5 years as IT Director at Pacific National Exhibition, overseeing IT across the site for events such as The Fair, Playland, and Fright Nights. Additionally, Winnie spent 16 years as Director of Information Technology at BC Place Stadium, where she managed IT operations for the Stadium, provisioning IT solutions for major events such as the 2010 Winter Olympics, Grey Cup, and other major spectator events and consumer tradeshows. Winnie is also a mentor with the Women in Communications & Technology (WCT) Mentorship Program and the Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology (SCWIST) eMentoring Program.
